Runway Report: Stella McCartney SS17

Known for her eco sensibilities, Stella McCartney continued to weave her sustainable values across her collection by incorporating statements such as “No leather,” “No fur” and “All is love” within her mixed motifs of laced red polka dots and white and black circular fringe.

These striking pieces played in contrast to McCartney’s minimalist display of oversized tapered trousers with elasticated waists, denim two-pieces and tailored blouses in crisp whites, navy blues and varying shades of butterscotch and khaki. Styled with these pieces was McCartney’s take on a bum-bag-meets-envelope-clutch-bag hung around the model’s waist in white, brown and navy (making a bum bag look chic is quite the achievement).

Amongst her literal statement pieces, McCartney also showed a new take on her iconic knits in the form of crocheted tank tops, lightweight maxi dresses and frayed-edged shoulder wraps.

If this controlled collection is anything to go by, McCartney’s release of her “seasonless” menswear line set to be launched in November is something to be very excited about. “My time on Savile Row inspired so much of what I do, and it feels like the right moment to talk to men and give them what they deserve,” McCartney explained to the New York Times. “I want to deliver to men what I deliver to women.”
